The Ventura County Fusion is a new local franchise of the Premier Development League (PDL), in the United Soccer League (USL). The PDL is a training ground for the best up and comers in the sport, and a stepping stone to the major leagues. Fusion players include US Under 20 National Team Players and numerous NCAA Division I players. Multiple Fusion players played in the NCAA Division I Final between UCSB and UCLA. In its inaugural season, the Fusion is already making a name for itself in the Southwest Division and beyond. The team is currently doing very well in league play and recently showcased its talent in a friendly match against the Los Angeles Galaxy, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
